Welcome to Harbor
You’re one of the first developers shipping Harbor inside a real game on Steam, which makes you a pretty small group. Here’s a real note before you start clicking through menus.
Program at a glance
Section titled “Program at a glance”- Audience: the first few developers shipping Harbor inside a real Steam game.
- Offer: six months free, full access to the current modules.
- What we ask: biweekly feedback calls (about 20–30 minutes), and a heads-up that month six transitions to a paid subscription.
- Contact: earlyaccess@paracosm.gg. Put
blockerin the subject line for anything stopping your integration.
Why I built this
Section titled “Why I built this”I’m a developer too, and Harbor comes out of a problem I couldn’t shake: we pour years into these games, and then we have almost no real way to talk to the people playing them. You ship a patch and hope someone notices. You post in Discord and reach the slice who already joined. The players quietly drifting away — the ones you’d most want back — never hear from you at all.
The one place you’re guaranteed a player’s attention is the moment they press Play. Every session, before your game opens. Harbor lives in that moment. It’s a small launcher that opens first, shows whatever you want to say, then gets out of the way: what you just shipped, what’s coming next, a way into your Discord, a nudge toward your next game.
That’s the whole idea. The launcher is the top of the funnel — the one surface every single player passes through, every time they play. The modules are everything you build on top of it: the creative ways to turn that attention into engagement, feedback, trust, and a genuine line of communication with your players. A one-time buyer becomes a regular. A regular becomes someone who follows you to whatever you make next.
And it’s yours. No store, no accounts, no fingerprint of mine on what your players see. Just you, talking to your players, at the one moment they’re all listening.
What you get
Section titled “What you get”Full access to everything Harbor currently ships, free for six months from your first login:
- Patch Notes — formatted markdown changelogs at session start.
- News — announcements, dev posts, anything you want in front of your active players.
- Dev Comments — shorter “what we’re working on right now” notes.
- The Harbor launcher binary itself (
harbor.exe), branded as yours: your logo, colors, fonts, and name in the title bar. - Unlimited content pushes through the CLI.
- CDN delivery for everything you push.
- A direct line to me for anything that breaks, anything that’s confusing, or anything you wish Harbor did.
There are no usage limits during the six months. Ship as much content as you want, to as many players as you have.
What we ask in return
Section titled “What we ask in return”Biweekly check-ins. Roughly every two weeks, a short call (20 to 30 minutes) to walk through what’s working, what isn’t, and what you’d change. These calls are how Harbor gets better. The first one or two matter most; after that we’ll find the cadence that works for you.
A heads-up about month six. Harbor is a paid subscription product. When the six months are up, continuing to use Harbor means moving to one of the regular tiers (currently $20–$40 per month depending on which modules you’re using). You’re hearing it now, in writing, so it’s never a surprise. If at month five you decide Harbor isn’t earning its keep, we’ll part on good terms and I’ll help you remove it cleanly. If it is, the transition is one email and a payment link.
That’s it. No NDAs, no exclusivity, no “you have to keep it running for X months.” You can uninstall on day three if it turns out Harbor isn’t for you. The whole point of running this with a small group is to find where Harbor falls short while I can still do something about it.
How to reach me
Section titled “How to reach me”The fastest way is email: earlyaccess@paracosm.gg. I read everything, usually within a day. For bugs, paste what you’re seeing. If something is fully broken and blocking you, put blocker in the subject and I’ll prioritize it.
What to do next
Section titled “What to do next”Three things, in order:
- Read the Quickstart — gets you from zero to “harbor.exe is shipping with my game” in about an hour.
- Read the Customization & Content Guide — branding, theme, modules, the assets to have ready, and the pre-submission checklist.
- Run
harborand walk throughinit. The CLI is interactive; pick options from the menu and it’ll guide you.
When you’ve got the launcher running with your game wired up, email me. I’d love to see a screenshot.
Thanks for taking the bet on something this early.
